1. Lubricate:                                                       Replacement hammer
  • Drive shaft spline (final drive pinion gear side)                YM-A9409-7
                                                                    Oil seal installing tool
              Recommended lubricant                                  90890-01512
               Molybdenum disulfide grease                           YM-01512

2. Lubricate:
 • Drive shaft spline (universal joint side)                        Installed depth “a”
                                                                      8.5–10.0 mm (0.33–0.39 in)
              Recommended lubricant
               Lithium-soap-based grease

3. Install:                                                              3
  • Oil seal “1” New
  • Washer “2”                                                                            1
    (with the fork seal driver weight “3” and fork
    seal driver attachment “4”)
              Fork seal driver weight
               90890-01184
              Replacement hammer
               YM-A9409-7
              Fork seal driver attachment
               90890-01186                                                                    a
              Replacement 27 mm

                                                         6. Install:
                                  3                       • Universal joint
                                                          • Final drive assembly
                                  4                      NOTE:
                                  2                      Align the drive shaft splines with the driven yoke
                                  1 New                  of the universal joint.
4. Install:                                              7. Tighten:
 • Circlip New                                            • Final drive assembly nuts
5. Install:
NOTE:                                                               Final gear case nut
                                                              T.     42 Nm (4.2 m·kg, 30 ft·lb)
Perform step 5 for vehicles with the following                 R.

frame numbers only.                                      8. Install:
• U49: RP15E-001457 –                                     • Sidestand
• Cal: RP15Y-000285 –                                     • Left footrest assembly
  • Drive shaft “1”
    (to the final drive pinion gear)
  • Oil seal “2”
    (to the final gear case with the fork seal driver
    weight “3” and oil seal installing tool “4”)
