Assembling The Middle Driven Shaft Assembly

MIDDLE GEAR

                                                           4. Check:
                                                            • Bearings
                                                              Damage/pitting → Replace.
                                                           EAS25790

                                                           CHECKING THE MIDDLE DRIVEN SHAFT
                                                           ASSEMBLY
                                                           1. Check:
                                                            • Middle driven pinion gear
                                                              Galling/pitting/wear → Replace.
c. Remove the middle driven pinion gear nut.               2. Check:

                                                            • Bearings
                                                              Damage/pitting → Replace.
2. Remove:
 • Bearing retainer                                        EAS25800

a. Temporarily install the middle driven shaft             ASSEMBLY
   bearing housing onto the lower crankcase.               1. Install:
b. Straighten the thread on the bearing retainer.           • Spring retainers “1”
c. Attach the bearing retainer wrench “1”.             NOTE:

d. Loosen the bearing retainer.

e. Remove the bearing retainer.

                                                           a. Temporarily install the middle driven shaft
   Galling/pitting/wear → Replace.
                                                              bearing housing onto the lower crankcase.
2. Check:
                                                           b. Attach the bearing retainer wrench “1”.
 • Damper drive cam surface
 • Damper driven cam surface                                          Bearing retainer wrench
   Scratches/wear → Replace.                                           90890-04140
3. Check:                                                             Middle drive shaft bearing retain-
 • Damper spring                                                      er wrench
   Cracks/damage → Replace.                                            YM-04140

                                                           c. Tighten the bearing retainer to specification.
